This stoneware mug was thrown on the wheel and stamped with a woodblock while the clay was still wet, then altered into a soft-square shape. It was fired in a wood/soda kiln to about cone 12, or ~2400°F.

It’s lined with a warm off-white glaze on the inside and the outside covered with glassy, melted wood ash except for a small flash of raw, toasty clay. This mug is a winner; there are only a couple like it from each firing.
